A new name

He suggested I come up with a more exciting name than Norma Dougherty. But do you have an idea? He suggested...Marilyn. It was clear that Mr. Zanuck didn't like me. The studio bigwigs are very jealous of their prerogative. Just like those in politics, they like to choose their own candidate for the award.

The studios

They don't like it when the public gets involved and sticks a creature of their choice on their arms, telling them “that's the one we want”. Play comedy. It was like being in prison and looking at the door that said “exit”. Playing was beautiful.

It was like a game that allowed you to escape from the world you lived in to access worlds so bright that it took your breath away. Acting

They then exonerated themselves by accusing me of their duplicity. Playing was beautiful.
